Heroes of Newerth

Heroes of Newerth (HoN) is a free-to-play, multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game originally developed by S2 Games, and now owned by Garena & Frostburn Studios. The game was officially released in May 2010, with an end-of-service date of June 20, 2022.

HoN's entity scripting system uses XML. The User Interface (UI) uses a combination of XML and Lua, the backend system uses PHP & MySQL, and the engine is coded in C++. Throughout my time on this project, I have implemented various features with each part of the tech stack.

I have a burning passion for HoN & worked for HoN since 2010. I have literally fixed 9000+ bugs and implemented many new heroes & items for HoN. I've also learned and applied good game design principles for HoN during this time, as well as the psychology behind gamers & what they really look for in a game. I currently maintain the game's balance, as well as implement small new mechanical changes that make the game feel fresh for each new patch that releases in the future. I am also the Director of Operations in the NAEU/International region, and am the main contact for communication between all contacts for the game.

One notable major achievement is scripting a hero named Kinesis. This hero picks up objects from its surroundings and uses telekinesis to attack his foes! The hero spotlight on the side showcases the hero's powers.
